Oklahoma man Brandon Thompson proposed to his girlfriend on Tuesday. She said yes! Oh, and the Muskogee Police Department arrested him too, but whatever, that’s a small detail.

It was both Thompson’s birthday and the Fourth of July. Officers arrested him on six felony warrants, and it was simply his time to face charges. But not before he popped the question. Body-cam footage released by the MPD shows Thompson, cigarette in mouth, slipping a ring on the finger of girlfriend Leandria Keith. Meanwhile, police watched, one cop making small talk with some kids.
“When the other officer told me he was gonna propose I think my initial response was, are you kidding me?” Muskogee Police Department spokesman Lincoln Anderson told NewsOn6.
Even the bride-to-be was surprised.
“Oh my gosh is he serious?” she told the outlet. “But I knew I was gonna say yes. Like I love him a lot. We go through our ups and downs. I guess it’s like an unconditional love, you know?”
Anderson had high hopes for the couple.
“Maybe by him taking this step to propose to her, so they can get married, he can take a step to getting his life together and putting these warrants behind him and improving the life of his kids and his future wife,” he said.
