Former Miss Kentucky Sent ‘Obscene Photographs’ to 15-Year-Old Student, Deputies Say

2014: Ramsey Carpenter was crowned Miss Kentucky. Fast forward four years later, and she is being charged with sending sexual photos to a former student. The defendant, now known under her married name as Ramsey Bearse, was arrested Friday for distributing obscene materials to a minor, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say she sent “obscene photographs” of herself to a 15-year-old she used to teach at Andrew Jackson Middle School in Cross Lanes, West Virginia. Authorities say she has been suspended from her job, and was released on $10,000 property bond after her arraignment.

The defendant could not be immediately reached for comment.

A spokesman for Kanawha County Schools told The Cincinnati Enquirer that she was indeed a teacher at Andrew Jackson, but he otherwise declined to comment. The school board did not immediately respond to a Law&Crime follow up inquiry regarding Bearse’s employment status pending the results of this criminal charge, what kind of process officials will follow in deciding her fate, and the district’s policies on preventing sexual interactions between teachers and students.

Bearse could not immediately be reached for comment.

Deputies ask anyone with information on this case to contact them.
