WATCH: Man Walks Off With Bucket of Gold Worth $1.6 Million, Police Say

The New York City Police Department released surveillance video on Wednesday morning. Investigators say it shows a bucket of gold flakes worth $1.6 million being stolen by a man out of the back of an armored truck.

Amazingly, police say the theft happened in the middle of the afternoon back on September 29th when an armored car was left unattended and apparently unlocked on the side of middle of busy Manhattan street.

WATCH:

The suspect, wanted for burglary, is described as a male Hispanic man in somewhere between 50-60-years-old.

He appears to get somewhat tired after hauling around the 5 gallon bucket, believed to have weighed approximately 86 lbs.  It took the man nearly an hour to make it to his getaway vehicle, a walk a police detective told NBC 4 New York would normally only take about 10 minutes under normal circumstances.

After two months of unsuccessfully tracking down the alleged thief, the NYPD released the video in the hopes someone might be able to help identify the man.

Police believe the man may have escaped to Orlando or Miami area with the bucket.
