Socialite Arrested After Alleged Brawl, Anti-Semitic Outburst at Posh Restaurant

Jacqueline Kent Cooke, daughter of former Washington Redskins owner Jack Kent Cooke and known socialite, was arrested after an alleged tussle that took place on New Year’s Eve. Cooke reportedly provoked the incident when she allegedly harassed a woman at Caravaggio, an upscale restaurant on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The woman’s son, Matthew Haberkorn, 52, apparently took issue with Cooke’s comment, sparking a sidewalk brawl.

Haberkorn told the New York Post that he had just had dinner with his four daughters, his wife, and his mother, and were exiting the restaurant when it all started.

“I went to the bathroom as we were leaving,” Haberkorn said. That’s when the encounter with Cooke allegedly started. “She made a comment to my mother, ‘Hurry up, you Jew,’ as she was getting her jacket.”

Haberkorn confronted Cooke outside the restaurant, only for the socialite to allegedly smack him with her glass pocketbook, drawing blood. Video of the incident made its way to the internet.

“She clocks me on the head with her glass purse,” Haberkorn said. According to the Post, it was a Lulu Guinness Women Chloe Mirror Perspex Clutch, which runs at least $400.

Haberkorn said the commtion did not end there, and that Cooke’s boyfriend then got into the mix, only for Cooke to hit him again. He said Cooke then left the scene, falling down in the process.

The socialite was arrested on Wednesday and charged with assault. Cooke was then scheduled to appear before a judge for her arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court.
