Psychic Scammed Disabled War Vet of $92,000, Deputies Say

A psychic in Tarpon Springs, Florida has been arrested for scamming money from the vulnerable. One of her alleged victims is an Iraq war vet suffering from disability and post-traumatic stress disorder, according to a CBS 12 report.

Gina Wilson, 31, was booked Tuesday on one felony count of scheming to defraud over $50,000.

The man told investigators he came to her for help dealing with emotional problems. Her alleged solution: stop taking his prescription medications, and stop seeing medical providers, including his therapist. She even attributed his problems to his own mother. All told, the vet gave her about $92,000.

The investigation started in November when he told the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office about his claim at a fraud awareness conference.

Detectives later found another alleged victim: a 61-year-old widow. Wilson is accused of promising her she’d help her dead husband “pass over to the other side,” according to the outlet. The psychic scammed $63,000 from her, deputies said.

Investigators are looking into whether there are more victims.

Wilson didn’t respond to requests for comment by CBS 12. No one answered the door when they dropped by her place of business.

Jail records obtained by LawNewz.com show she posted $50,000 bond early Wednesday.
