If you follow Steve Weichert on Twitter, you might have thought he was pulling an “Anthony Weiner.” His account put out pornographic retweets Monday morning. That’s a bit of problem since this Democrat is running for the District 17 State Senate seat in Arizona. He says his account was hacked.
My apologies to anyone who may have received a rather lewd tweet from me this morning. My account was hacked. (Darn those Russians!)

Weichert elaborated in an interview with ABC 15.
“I use Twitter as my lifeline to the people,” he said. “That’s why this is so disconcerting.”
The candidate learned about what happened as he was taking his children to school, he said. Someone sent him a text asking what he was doing, and this message confused him. Then he received a screenshot of his Twitter account.
“I’m going, ‘What?'” he said. “It was a bad Monday.”
Weichert said as he tried to resolve the situation, more and more salacious images kept popping up.
Seriously… it was like that scene from “I ❤️Lucy” in the Chocolate Factory. Only this time it was porn on the conveyor belt. https://t.co/VmzB8bU8yR

He was finally able to change his passwords, and the problem has since then been resolved. Obviously, the retweets are gone as of Tuesday morning, and Weichert plans to file a police report. He addressed the perpetrator during the interview.
“Stop,” he said on Monday. “This is my integrity on the line. We need to stop trying to attack politicians.”
LawNewz.com confirmed with Weichert that he plans to file a report with the Chandler Police Department on Tuesday.
It is unclear how many people actually saw the pornographic retweets. His account had 5,447 followers at the time this article was published.
Update – Aug 8, 12:00 p.m. EST: Added a note that Weichert plans to file the police report on Tuesday.
