Cops Used Instagram to Identify Butterfly Thief, Police Say

Everyone calm down! Police said they caught the woman who stole a butterfly! Our long national nightmare is over! Jamie Revis, 36, committed the theft on April 15 at the Krohn Conservatory, according to the Cincinnati Police Department. Cops announced the arrest on Friday.

As seen in the video above, a woman in a red shirt can be seen at the conservatory. She apparently ducks into an exhibit, then attempts to leave. A woman in a blue shirt (she has been described as an employee of at Kron) seems to be trying to physically stop this suspect from leaving. That didn’t succeed.

Cops said the suspect made off with a blue morpho African butterfly. Charged with misdemeanor theft, Revis appeared in court Saturday morning, and pleaded not guilty, according to WCPO. Cops in Springfield Township said she had a number of butterflies at her residence, and she allegedly admitted to four from Kron. The morpho from the April 15 incident was not recovered. Court documents obtained by WKYC state that Revis was identified via information on Instagram. Police named her as a suspect on Wednesday.
