The Fargo Police Department confirmed Sunday night that the body of missing woman Savanna Greywind was discovered in a river. But cops have yet to publicly confirm the location of another figure in this case: Her unborn daughter. The 22-year-old Greywind was pregnant when she went missing August 19.
William Henry Hoehn, 32, and Brooke Lynn Crews, 38, who lived in a neighboring apartment, were arrested after several days of investigation. She was going to to their home to help with a sewing project when she was last seen, cops say. Police were able to perform three consent searches of their home before obtaining a search warrant, and discovering a newborn infant.
“Our investigation thus far indicates the probability that this is Savanna Greywind’s child,” police said in a statement Friday. They brought the child, who is alive, to a hospital.
Crews and Hoehn told police the baby is Greywind’s daughter, according to a Pioneer Press report. DNA confirmation is pending.
The suspects were booked Thursday on class A felony conspiracy to commit kidnapping. In a press conference Friday, Fargo Police Chief David Todd declined to name the alleged victim in this count. He said the charge was recommended by a North Dakota state’s attorney based on the “totality of circumstances.”
That said, Crews and Hoehn have lawyered up, apparently ready to fight it out in court. Todd said they didn’t answer questions last week about Greywind’s fate.
