Man in Underwear Breaks into Pastor’s Home, Gets Shot, Deputies Say

A family in Cypress, Texas are distraught after a home invasion. A man wearing only his underwear allegedly broke into the home of Pastor Lorenzo Martinez and Gloria Martinez early Thursday morning, and was shot and killed, KTRK reports. The investigation is ongoing, but investigators seem to believe that this was a random incident. The family reportedly had no idea who this man was.

It started around 2 a.m., Sgt. Felipe Rivera, of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, told the outlet.

“The door is kicked in and that’s how the family wakes up to discover the intruder in the residence,” he said.

This suspect reportedly wore nothing but his underwear.

Naarai Olvera, the Martinez’s adult daughter, said she wasn’t there, but that her brother, sister, sister’s husband, and their three sons, were.

“He just started hitting my dad then he hit my mom, then my brother woke up and my brother started hitting him,” she said.

Olvera claims the suspect punched her mother Gloria, 55, in the face, breaking her nose. Her brother, a Jiu-Jitsu practioner, attempted to fight the invader, who then threw a 60-inch flat screen TV at him, she said.

The suspect allegedly knocked down the bedroom door, confronting Olvera’s sister, brother-in-law, and three children. That’s when her brother-in-law shot the man, she said.

“We are a Christian family,” Olvera said. “We don’t believe in killing anybody. But we had to do what we had to do to protect our family and protect our little kids.” She said her brother-in-law had no choice but to shoot.

Investigators claim to have found a Lincoln sedan a half-mile away from the home, and they think it might have belonged to the alleged home invader.

He has not been identified.
