WATCH: College Quarterback Tackled by Police Says He Didn’t Know Why Police Were Arresting Him

Video shows a cop tackling a college quarterback, but he said he had no idea why police were arresting him. He was just breaking up a fight.

The 21-year-old Baker Mayfield, who plays for the Oklahoma Sooners, was booked February in Washington County, Arkansas. Multiple charges: disorderly conduct, fleeing, public intoxication, and resisting arrest.

Now police have released footage showing how the capture went down, KOCO reports. Cops say Mayfield tried to flee while being questioned by several officers, and one managed to tackle him to the ground. No joke, it was an outright sacking. It may have been the off-season for the quarterback, but not for law enforcement. Authorities also claim he cursed at them during the exchange.

As seen on video, he questioned why he was being arrested. “What did I do wrong?” he said. His girlfriend told police off-camera that Mayfield was just trying to stop a fight.

Mayfield faces an April 7 court date in Arkansas. He apologized for the incident in a late February letter.

“I made the biggest mistake of my life by putting myself in this situation,” he wrote. You can read that full statement here.
