‘I Just Went for It’: Watch as Woman Says She Scares off Burglar from Raping Her

A Florida woman says a burglar almost raped her, but the right scream at the right time scared him off.

Video obtained by WFLA shows an unidentified man breaking into her St. Petersburg home while she was out on a bike ride. Cigarette in mouth, he searched the house. The burglar then got out, climbing out a window, and leaving it open behind him. He’d return.

The woman told her story to the outlet on condition of anonymity. Upon returning home, she had no idea the burglar had been there, she said. Time passed, and she heard a noise outside while laying in bed listening to a podcast on her iPhone. The woman looked out the front door to see what the sound was, then returned to her bedroom–running into the burglar.

Footage shows him demanding her cellphone, money, and keys.

“He was a professional I believe,” she said. “He had gloves on. He had a hoodie on. He had a mask on. So he wasn’t trying to touch many things.”

After he made her get on her bed, she believed he was going to rape her.

“I just told him, ‘You can take my stuff, you can take everything that you want, but you can’t take my body,’ and I just went for it,” she said. “I yelled out.”

The woman ran to the window, and screamed out for help, she said. The man can be seen on footage escaping the home.

The St. Petersburg Police Department is investigating.
