A Denver man is in federal custody after allegedly offering to buy guns for convicted felons in a YouTube video posted to his eponymous account “Kenneth Francis.”
The 28-year-old was arrested following an undercover sting by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, or ATF.
Francis posted the video, “Need Help Getting a Gun?” on Christmas Eve. The ominous video starts with the scrolling text of the Second Amendment and is followed by a ranting salutation on the meaning of the Second Amendment, the “corrupt” government, and Francis’ own libertarianism.
After some loathsome comments directed at the State of California, Francis says:
I want you to know that the only requirement that I have is that you have a state ID…I don’t care…I don’t care what state you’re from, I don’t care about your background, I’m not gonna check it because it doesn’t matter. It just does not matter what you have in your background, your past. It’s absolutely pointless for me to give two sh**s of a rat’s a** about what you did. I don’t care if you have a sex charge, I don’t care if you have a violent crime. I don’t care (emphasis added). If you have a state ID then you have the right to bear and keep arms. It really is that simple, and I’m not going to infringe on that right.
Francis goes on to say he will do what he can to get Americans their guns, even going so far as to include a text box in the video that says, “I am willing to drive anywhere in the US to deliver for extra fee.” He then offers to buy anyone a gun for a $50 fee. “$50 is a very reasonable price because I’m basically going to be breaking the law here,” Francis says in the video. “And I’m okay with that because the law is corrupt.”
Francis could face up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted, according to court records.
