Robbery Suspect Threatened Women with Acid, Police Say

Your run-of-the-mill robber tends to prefer firearms. Sometimes a knife or baseball bat. But in New York City, one suspect has been known to threaten women with acid. Police are looking for a man linked to two holdups at an ATM in the Upper East Side, according to a CBS2 report. Now, they’ve released a photo of who they believe may be responsible.

The alleged victim in a May 29 robbery claimed he confronted her with a water bottle containing yellow liquid. He threatened to throw acid at her if she didn’t give him $1,000, she said.

“I just completely freaked out and shaking and couldn’t breathe,” she told the outlet. Finally, he lowered his price after she had trouble with her PIN number. “He said, “Just me give $500.”

A similar holdup happened May 12. Police think the same man demanded and got $1,000 from another woman.

The investigation remains ongoing.
