Trump on Profiling Muslims: ‘We Have to Use Common Sense’

Donald Trump Presumptive GOP Presidential nominee Donald Trump spoke in a phone interview on Face the Nation on Sunday, discussing gun control, and how to prevent attacks like last weekend’s shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando.

Host John Dickerson asked Trump if he was in favor of profiling Muslims. Trump said, “Well, I think profiling is something we’re going to have to start thinking about as a country … I hate the concept of profiling, but we have to start using common sense, and we have to use our heads.”

Trump said that while he doesn’t like the idea of profiling, “it’s not the worst thing to do,” and that other countries use it effectively.

Earlier in the interview, Dickerson had asked Trump if he believes that a Muslim buying weapons and ammunition should be scrutinized more than others. Trump responded, “I don’t know about that,” but “you have a very, very strong group of people that is radical Islamic, and that seems to be a problem.”
