Sarah Huckabee Sanders: Russia Probe Is ‘A Hoax and Waste of Time’ (WATCH)

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders gave an interview with “Fox & Friends” Monday morning, where she discussed the recently-released redacted FISA warrant documents regarding former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. While the 412-page document was mostly blacked out for security purposes, it claimed that Page had been acting as a foreign agent.

Despite this, Sanders maintained that it did not prove any wrongdoing on the part of the Trump campaign, and expressed hope that it would lead to an end to the investigation of possible illegal cooperation between the campaign and Russia:

I think you can see even just from the information that has been released is that the president’s been right all along, that this is a total waste of time, and certainly a waste of taxpayer money. His campaign had nothing to do with Russia, but everything to do with a great message to defeat Hillary Clinton. … I think we’d all be a lot better off if we could get this out of the way and that Congress and the Special Counsel could come to the same conclusion that the rest of America has, that this is a hoax and a waste of time and let’s move on and focus on some of the big problems and big challenges we actually have to face as a country.

Republican members of Congress are now calling on President Trump to push for the declassification of the documents, to reveal the redacted information. So far, the president has not done so. When asked if this is because Trump does not want to get involved, Sanders said, “The president would like this to operate independent of him,” but that he has asked the Justice Department to be transparent.
