President Donald Trump‘s longtime attorney and friend Michael Cohen was the subject of a detailed feature in the New York Times that described his role as as “fixer” of sorts for the President. The piece paints a not-always-flattering picture of a man who claims he “would do just about anything” for Trump, but Cohen appears to be pretty happy with the coverage.
In a tweet late Monday night, Cohen said, “This year #PresidentsDay2018 has a special meaning to me. It’s time for our country to stand strong and proud with @POTUS @realDonaldTrump as I do!” He included a video clip from CNN discussing the Times piece, as well as Cohen’s role in “making Donald Trump’s women problems go away.”

The Times article describes Cohen’s efforts to suppress photographs that reportedly showed Trump signing a woman’s bare breasts. This comes after Cohen admitted to paying $130,000 to former adult film star Stormy Daniels to keep her from talking about an affair that she allegedly had with Trump while he was already married to his wife Melania, soon after their son was born.
It’s unconventional work for an attorney to perform for a client, and the methods described in the article border on intimidation tactics. At one point, the man who obtained the alleged risque photos of Trump said that at one point Cohen threatened him.
“He’s like, ‘If you show those photos, I’m gonna take you down,” the man said.
Cohen doesn’t see that as a negative though, since he was vigorously protecting Trump and his family. In fact, he was grateful for the article, tweeting his thanks to the newspaper for using good photos of him and giving the article a prime location.
