The backlash from Donald Trump‘s incendiary campaign remarks on immigration, refugees and Muslims has yet to subside. Students at DePaul University’s College of Law have decided to dump Trump.
Each year anxiety-ridden law students across the country allow themselves one night to imbibe freely, discard the daily stresses of law school and celebrate their hard work. This night is often known as Barrister’s Ball.
After the law school’s disgruntled student body expressed their discontent with the event’s venue — Donald Trump’s Trump Tower in Chicago — DePaul is now paying to contract out of their agreement with Trump’s windy city condo-hotel namesake.
Michael Burns, Associate Dean of Student Affairs, sent an email to students on Tuesday personally thanking them for their disapproval of the venue for the annual school dance.
“After discussion throughout the day, the College of Law administration and [Student Bar Association] leadership have decided to cancel the Trump Tower contract and select another venue,” Burns wrote. “It is important to us all that this event be held at a venue that all of our students feel welcome and comfortable at.”
How long will it take for Trump to denounce DePaul Law School students as a bunch of low-energy, lightweights? Tell us in the comments.
