A fight between Georgia high school students at a bus stop only got worse when one of the students called his mom for protection, according to local law enforcement officials.
A 17-year-old student called his mom for help when he was about to fight a 16-year-old, but that help came in the form of a razor blade, WSB-TV reported.
“He called his mom, ran down. She went up to him and was like, ‘Who want to get cut first?'” a witness told the local station.
She reportedly then cut another woman, Raveon Barber, 21, who showed up to help her 16-year-old brother. When Paulding County Sheriff deputies arrived, however, it was Barber who was arrested. Authorities said the mom was only acting in self-defense. Video of the incident that was recorded on a cell phone appears to show Barber throw a punch, then being on the receiving end of the razor blade.
Barber and her father Jacoby Green still think that the other woman is the one who should be facing charges, not her.
“If you were coming to de-escalate the situation, you wouldn’t come with a razor,” Green said.
“”Instead of me being locked up, I feel like she should have been locked up,” Barber claimed.
Barber was charged with battery. She has since been released after posting bail.
When a reporter from the local television station went to the mother’s home for comment, a resident said no one wanted to comment for the story.
