Doctors Richard Field and Lina Bolanos were discovered murdered at their penthouse home Friday, the Boston Police Department said.
This started when cops responded to a call about a man with a gun.
“On arrival, the officers made entry to the building and observed a male suspect armed with a firearm,” police said. “Upon seeing the officers, the suspect immediately began firing at the officers, causing them to return fire. During the exchange, the suspect was struck by the officers and after a violent struggle, placed in custody and transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries as a result of gunshot wounds.”
No officers sustained gunshot wounds, but a few went to nearby hospitals for non-life threatening injuries. SWAT team sweeped the location, and discovered the doctors, who were pronounced dead at the scene.
Bolanos, 38, and Field, 49, were engaged to be married, WBZ reported Saturday. They reportedly had been discovered bound, throats cut. Their alleged killer is 30-year-old Bampumim Teixeira, who has a criminal record of mostly theft, Suffolk County records said. BPD Commissioner William Evans suggested he knew the victims.
