In Bizarre Audio, Man Calls 911 on Himself for Driving Drunk (LISTEN)

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office released audio of a Florida man calling 911 dispatch. On himself. In a Facebook post, authorities said the man, identified as 39-year-old Michael Lester, placed the call on New Year’s Eve.

The individual literally said, “drunk driving,” when asked why he called.

The dispatch operator attempted to get his name.

“I think I’m going to get something to eat,” he answered. “They can catch up with me.”

“Sir, what is your last name?” the operator said.

“Is it helpful?” he said.

“Yes, it’s very helpful,” she replied.

The man said he’d been driving around trying to get pulled over, and continued to refuse to give his name. He declined medical attention. “No, I need a police department,” he said.

The operator asked him to pull over.

“I am pulled over, you can’t tell me what to do,” he said, and soon ended the call.

Deputies claim Lester admitted to only drinking two beers, then he changed his answer to “three or four.” He also admitted to swallowing meth some time before, they said.

Lester could not be reached for comment. Jail records obtained by Law&Crime show he remains locked up on $500 bond for one count of DUI.
