President Donald Trump‘s personal lawyer, Marc Kasowitz, is said to have bragged about his role in the firing of Preet Bharara, the former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, sources told ProPublica.
Kasowitz reportedly warned the President about Bharara, saying, “This guy is going to get you.”
Bharara was fired by Trump on March 11 after being initially asked to stay on.
The report goes on to mention that Kasowitz has a known tendency to exaggerate his own exploits. Multiple sources told ProPublica that Kasowitz has previously claimed that Trump offered him the position of U.S. Attorney General, only for him to decline.
Kasowitz most recently found himself in the spotlight late last week in the aftermath of James Comey‘s testimony to Congress, when he defended President Trump to the media, saying that not all of Comey’s claims were accurate.
