Ted Cruz Seems to Like North Carolina’s Anti-Trans Bathroom Bill

shutterstock_398549245Senator Ted Cruz said he supports North Carolina’s ability to pass the new, controversial law restricting transgender people to bathrooms of the sex listed on their birth certificate, NBC San Diego reports.

“Men should not be going to the bathroom with little girls,” he said at a Thursday taping of a MSNBC town hall meeting in Buffalo, New York. He said states could pass this and similar laws because “that is a perfectly reasonable determination for the people to make.”

North Carolina’s law has led to a lot of public resistance. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band canceled an April 10 concert in Greensboro, North Carolina to protest the law. Former Beetle, Ringo Starr, followed suit, just axing a June performance, while Cyndi Lauper made hers into a rally to “to build public support to repeal” the law, known as HB2. In March, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo banned non-essential travel by state employees to North Carolina. Even porn site xHamster went ahead and blocked visitors from the state.

Senator Cruz trails Donald Trump in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, with 545 delegates to Trump’s 743.
