The Office of the Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Justice announced on Thursday that they are opening an investigation of the Department and the FBI regarding their actions leading up to November’s election.

The investigation will reportedly explore allegations that “policies or procedures were not followed,” specifically regarding FBI Director James Comey‘s public statement in July regarding the bureau’s investigation of Hillary Clinton‘s private email system, that Comey “should have been recused” from certain matters, and that the DOJ’s Assistant Attorney General for Legislative Affairs “improperly disclosed non-public information to the Clinton campaign. The announcement also alleges that the Department may have used “improper consideration” in making other investigative decisions.
