People on Twitter have been inundating the wrong “Thomas Hardiman” with messages, believing him to be the U.S. Supreme Court candidate of the same name (excepting middle initials).
Thomas M. Hardiman is a United States Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit who is rumored to have been told to prepare for the announcement that he will replace retired Justice Anthony Kennedy on the U.S. Supreme Court. Thomas P. Hardiman, going by the Twitter handle @TPHardiman, is the Director of Student Conduct at North Carolina State University.
As early as July 2, the latter Hardiman’s Twitter shows, a PSA was sent out.
“A friendly announcement to the Twitter world, I am not the Thomas Hardiman who may be nominated to the #SCOTUS I want get that out to the public as the messages and mentions have already started to begin,” he said.
Well, today is the big day, and Hardiman is dreading what his Twitter mentions are going to look like if President Donald Trump picks the other Hardiman Monday tonight.
“Please don’t let it be ‘me’ #ScotusPick,” he said.
Can’t say we blame the guy one bit.
