Video published Friday shows a man identified as Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt shoving and kicking a woman. Others at the scene attempt to stop him, but he apparently insists on the confrontation. The footage was first obtained and reported by TMZ.
The February 10 incident was already known, but this is the first time we’re seeing video. Police were called to the Metropolitan at the 9 hotel in Cleveland, Ohio. The woman told cops that another woman started arguing with her. This escalated to Hunt shoving her, she said.
Hunt’s friends claimed, however, that she got mad they didn’t allowed her into the room, and that she fabricated the story for a possible lawsuit against the football player. They alleged she used the n-word.
As seen on video, it took several of his friends to pull him away from the argument. He managed to knock free, however. One of the men fell over, in turn knocking the woman to the floor.
The running back’s long-term professional fate remains unclear.
I am told the Chiefs sent Kareem Hunt home from the facility today upon learning of the release of the video and pending further action. Most likely short-term resolution is that Hunt would be placed on the commissioner’s exempt list pending a final decision, but we will see.

Kareem Hunt had multiple opportunities to defuse the situation, instead he escalated things. Nothing good ever comes from that — EVER. Learn how to walk away, and if your pride takes an L, that’s ok. Just walk away and wake up the next morning with your name and career intact.

Update: the Kansas City Chiefs have released Kareem Hunt.
“Earlier this year, we were made aware of an incident involving running back Kareem Hunt. At that time, the National Football League and law enforcement initiated investigations into the issue,” the team statement said. “As part of our internal discussions with Kareem, several members of our management team spoke directly to him.”
“Kareem was not truthful in those discussions. The video released today confirms that fact,” the organization continued. “We are releasing Kareem immediately.”
