The murder trial of Justin Ross Harris, who is accused of intentionally leaving his 22-month-old son, Cooper, in a hot car to die, is nearing its end, with closing arguments expected to begin Monday morning.

Harris is facing eight charges, including malice murder, felony murder and child cruelty. He is also facing charges for allegedly sexting underage girls on the day his son was left to die in the parking lot of the Home Depot Corporate Headquarters in Cobb County, Georgia. Harris claims that he is innocent and this was all a tragic accident.

On Friday, the defense rested their case after calling Scott Moulton, a digital forensic expert, to the stand. Moulton described Harris’ internet history as being not as troubling as the prosecution was making it out to be. Prosecutors had brought up how Harris viewed certain items online such as a video of a veterinarian talking about the effects of heat on pets, leading them to believe Harris was researching how to kill his son. The defense expert pointed out that while Harris did view the video, he didn’t actively search for it.

The prosecution then called a rebuttal witness, Detective Edward Stockinger. Detective Stockinger was the one who told Harris’ then-wife, Leanna Taylor, that Cooper had died. The court heard an audio recording of their conversation.
