Leotard Clad Bandit Continues to Stay a Step Ahead of Cops (VIDEO)

A robbery suspect has baffled police in the suburbs outside of Kansas City, MO after he allegedly robbed a dance wear store last month to steal leotards and other items.  Only the first haul apparently was not enough for the man, now dubbed the “leotard bandit,” because cops say he returned later that night to steal more and this time he was wearing a presumably stolen leotard.

Local media reports says the burglary took place in former President Harry S. Truman’s hometown of Independence, MO.  The suspect hit reportedly hit the store the first time using a crowbar to steal multiple leotards.

The suspect didn’t mess with the kids stuff, instead the store owner said he focused on adult items diring the first trip.

However, cops say he soon returned, dressed in one of the suspected stolen leotards, and was caught on surveillance cameras taking more leotards, but also grabbed a safe and other “unusual” things.

After failing to track the bandit down for nearly a month, police released photos and surveillance video of the robbery this week in the hopes of someone recognizing him.

He is accused of stealing more than $3,000 worth adult leotards, a cash register, costume jewelry and other items.

Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477) or call the Independence Police tips line directly  at 816-325-7777.
