The NYPD is on the on the hunt for a trio of extremely bold robbers who you could probably say allegedly “hit” at the perfect time. And it was not just any regular robbery, these three men are accused of making off with a cool $6 million in jewelry while more than 1,000,000 people and 7,000 law enforcement officers stood by to watch the Ball Drop in Times Square just two blocks away.
ABC 7News in NYC reports the alleged perps struck just one minute into the new year, at 12:01 a.m. in a nondescript office building that happens to house the offices of high end jeweler Gregg Ruth. It is not uncommon to find a Gregg Ruth designed piece of jewelry retailing for over $25,000, including this emerald and diamond designed ring with a price tag of nearly $100,000.
The NYPD put out a portion of the heist captured on surveillance video. One man briefly appears to show his face.

According to police, the suspects were essentially able to move freely once inside and managed to gain access to two safes. There was reportedly no sign of forced entry, but nobody is officially calling the theft an inside job, at this point.
After grabbing the massive amount of booty, the perps were said to have escaped the building undetected via the fire exits.
