Burglary Suspect Arrested After Allegedly Crying Her Way into Home

Last month, we wrote about an alleged burglary in Mableton, Georgia. One of the suspects, a young woman, was caught on video giving a kind of masterful performance in which she pretty much cried her way into the house. Two armed accomplices can then be seen on footage. It didn’t take too long for police to claim they identified the actress. Officers got an arrest warrant for 19-year-old Amanda Michelle Tanks on April 3, and arrested her Friday, according to WSB-TV.

Cobb County Sheriff’s Office records obtained by Law&Crime show that she remains locked up in lieu of $55,220 bond for felony aggravated assault, first-degree burglary, false imprisonment, and felony first-degree cruelty to children. No attorney is named in her file. She could not be reached for comment.

As seen on video of the burglary, the woman identified as Tanks described herself as “T’s girlfriend,” and was at the home to get money for an abortion. The apparent homeowner opens the door briefly, and it’s at this moment that Tanks seems to be trying to force her way into the home. After getting shut out, she throws a tantrum worthy of Mommie Dearest.

“How could you do this to me?” she cries. “You know I’m only 19. You know I don’t have no money.”

The homeowner opens the door again, and briefly speaks to the suspect, who says her name is Amanda.

The female suspect and the two masked gunmen allegedly forced their way into the home, and pointed their weapons at the residents’, including the children, police said. (Surveillance footage apparently didn’t catch this on tape.)

Smyrna police spokesman Sgt. Louis Defense told Law&Crime that only Tanks has been arrested. Investigators are still looking for leads as to the identity of the two other suspects.
