The family of late football player Aaron Hernandez is suing the NFL and the New England Patriots, saying that he had CTE. Attorney Jose Baez made the announcement in a press conference on Tuesday.

Baez said they may have prevented Hernandez’s death had they known about his CTE. Nonetheless, he continued to maintain that his former client was innocent of all murder accusations.
Law Newz reached out to the NFL for comment. A spokesman for the Patriots declined to comment.
Hernandez was convicted in 2013 for the murder of Odin Lloyd, and later acquitted in a separate double murder. Officials said he died by suicide shortly after being found not guilty in the latter case. Baez openly doubted the official story.
