Watch: Sanel Saint Simon Penalty Phase

Watch the penalty phase trial of Sanel Saint Simon in Orange County, Florida. Simon was convicted in February of killing his step-daughter, 16-year-old Alexandria Chery. Chery disappeared from her home on July 28, 2014, and her body was found four days later.

On the day Chery went missing, she had reportedly told her mother, Rosalie Joseph, that she wasn’t feeling well and was staying home. Joseph alerted authorities after coming home to find her daughter missing, her bed sheets removed from her bed, blood on a teddy bear. She had not heard from Chery all day.

According to court records, Saint Simon allegedly lied to police, saying that Chery may have moved in with friends. His cell phone and Chery’s were found to have been in the same place just hours before Joseph reported Chery missing, authorities said.

Saint Simon now faces the death penalty. The same jury that found him guilty will now decide his fate. Watch the penalty phase in the player above courtesy WOFL.
