Real estate heir Robert Durst was sentenced by a Louisiana federal judge on Wednesday to 85 months in prison for gun possession, The Advocate reported. Durst had reached a plea agreement with prosecutors, but it was ultimately up to Judge Kurt Engelhardt to agree to the terms and sentence Durst.
As LawNewz.com previously reported Durst was looking to serve his prison term in California at a facility that could properly treat his health condition. He is also still waiting to stand trial for the 2000 death of his friend Susan Berman. That trial is set to take place in Los Angeles, another reason for Durst wanting to be in that area.
Judge Engelhardt approved the plea agreement, and Durst will be sent to a federal prison in L.A.
