Watch any amount of Good Morning America, and you’ll know that Law&Crime founder Dan Abrams and former prosecutor Nancy Grace butt heads on everything from mysterious disappearances to Anthony Weiner’s sentence to OJ Simpson’s freedom. Now they’ve launched a new show. It’s called, appropriately enough, Grace vs. Abrams, and it premieres Thursday at 11 p.m. EST on A&E. (A&E owns a minority stock in Law&Crime.) They’ll be joined by a studio audience, guests, and legal experts and will tackle the high-profile criminal stories of the day.
They are going to a start with an episode on Casey Anthony. She may have been acquitted in a Florida court for the death of her two-year-old daughter Caylee, but not in the court of public opinion. Prosecutors said Anthony went partying while her daughter was missing, and friends testified that she seemed carefree in spite of it all. The defense argued that Caylee died in an accidental drowning, however, not murder. Anthony shouldn’t be convicted for murder, they said. A jury found her not guilty for the death in 2011, but did say she gave false information to authorities. She was sentenced to four-years behind bars, but she was soon released, given credit for time served.
Since getting her freedom, she’s kept a low-profile, but that hasn’t stopped public debate on her role in Caylee’s 2008 death. As you can see from the trailer above, Grace is outraged by the verdict.
“Calyee’s body was found double-bagged in trash bags, and you’re saying that could’ve been an accident,” she told Abrams.
