On Monday, police in Nashville Tennessee announced the arrest of 29-year-old Travis Reinking, the man who allegedly opened fire a Waffle House, killing four people and injuring others.
In a news release from Sunday, cops said Reinking arrived at the restaurant in his pickup truck at about 3:19 in the morning. After three to four minutes of waiting, he allegedly exited the vehicle with an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle, and killed 20-year-old Joe R. Perez, a restaurant customer, and 29-year-old Taurean C. Sanderlin, a Waffle House employee. He shot out the front glass of the business, entered the restaurant, and kept shooting, police said. 21-year-old Deebony Groves was shot and killed in the restaurant. 23-year-old Akilah Dasilva was also shot in the restaurant. She initially survived, but later passed away at the hospital. 21-year-old Shanita Waggoner and 24-year-old Sharita Henderson were also named as being injured by gunfire.
James Shaw Jr., a 29-year-old restaurant patron, is credited with disarming Reinking.
Police said the shooter was naked except for a jacket, and fled the scene after the attack. They said that Reinking, originally from Illinois, moved to Nashville last fall. He was fired from a local job three weeks ago, and no-showed a new job last Tuesday.
Cops said Reinking’s Illinois firearms license was taken away after he was arrested by the Secret Service for being in a restricted area by the White House last July. His weapons, including the AR-15, were seized, but cops claim his father got those back, and admittedly returned them to Reinking.
