‘More BS’: Fmr Prosecutor Reacts to Casey Anthony’s New Interview

On Wednesday, Jeff Ashton, one of the prosecutors in the Casey Anthony murder trial, appeared on the LawNewz Network to discuss the case on the sixth anniversary of Anthony’s acquittal for the death of her two-year-old daughter Caylee. Towards the end of the segment, host Amy Dash asked him questions that were submitted by viewers, and Ashton was anything but shy in his responses.

First, Dash asked if Ashton regretted when he visibly laughed during defense attorney Jose Baez‘s closing argument. Ashton gave a wholehearted yes to that one, saying it wasn’t intentional, and it was the result of being exhausted at the end of the trial and hearing “something that is just so absolutely ridiculous.”

Later on, Ashton talked addressed an interview that Anthony had recently given. “I find it absolutely amazing that after all these years, Casey Anthony has so little curiosity about what happened to her daughter,” Ashton said, referring to how Anthony said, “I sleep pretty good at night.” In the interview with the Associated Press, Anthony talked about what type of person she thinks Caylee would have grown up to become, and acknowledged that she understands why people have negative feelings towards her and can empathize with O.J. Simpson. Nevertheless, she said she is now happy.

Ashton said that in the interview, some of what Anthony said appeared to be contradictory, and that she ultimately didn’t reveal any new information.

“It was just more Casey Anthony BS.”
