The New York Police Department has identified a person of interest in an strange attack that took place at a Bronx deli. Security video shows two men hurling produce at people. The incident took place on May 29. Video shows one man grabbing avocados and pitching them like fastballs at workers behind the counter, then hurling bananas too. A second man can also be seen throwing avocados in the store.
According to CBS2, worker Amir Alzabibi suffered a broken jaw from the attack. Hany Girgis, owner of the Stadium Gourmet Deli, said, that his employee needed surgery. Girgis said it all started when one of the suspects got mad when he ordered food and was told that the clerk didn’t speak English while the cashier translated for him.
“Yea, this is not normal,” Girgis said, noting that while he’s used to ornery customers, this was beyond what he would expect.
The suspects got away in a dark sedan, police said. It’s unknown who the person of interest is.
