A California family’s security camera caught some odd behavior one night, when a man they don’t know showed up at their front door early Saturday morning. Rather than trying to break in, however, he apparently decided to hang out and lick their doorbell–for three hours.
The owners of the house in Salinas were not at home when it happened, but their children were inside sleeping at the time. Sylvia Dungan, relieved that her kids weren’t hurt, was able to find the humor in the situation.
“You kind of laugh about it afterwards because technically he didn’t harm anybody, he didn’t break anything,” Dungan told local station KION.
Footage also reportedly showed the man urinating in the front yard.
Neighbors commented on the situation in disbelief.
“I thought I’ve seen it all, but this takes the cake,” Alfred Santos said.
“Never have we seen anything like this,” echoed Stephanie Rosario.
The camera system alerted the owners to movement outside the home. Dungan and her family reported the incident to the police after they saw the footage. The Salinas Police Department were then able to use the footage to identify a suspect.
“We were pleasantly surprised the image was so clear. It didn’t take us long to identify the individual,” police department spokesperson Miguel Cabrera said, according to ABC13.
Cops identified the suspect as Roberto Daniel Arroyo, 33. As of Wednesday morning they had not apprehended him, but police said they could arrest him on charges of prowling and petty theft.
