Georgia police are still looking for 34-year-old Bo Dukes after he allegedly held two women at gunpoint and raped them, but federal authorities are also looking to bring him to justice. A judge in the Middle District of Georgia revoked an order for voluntary surrender on an unrelated case, citing the new state charges.
Let’s start from the top, because Dukes is involved in three separate criminal issues.
Dukes became known nationwide as one of two men charged in the murder of his former high school teacher Tara Grinstead. Prosecutors said he helped the alleged killer Ryan Alexander Duke (no relation) cover up the 2005 death. Both men pleaded not guilty. The case is going to trial.
In an unrelated case, a federal judge sentenced Dukes to 27 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to stealing over $150,000 worth of property from the U.S. Army. Prosecutors said he failed to pay restitution and perform community service after being let go on supervised release, so the court in November ordered him to spend six months in prison.
Then, on Tuesday, Dukes allegedly held two women at gunpoint at his home in Georgia. The Warner Robins Police Department say he committed rape, aggravated sodomy, false imprisonment, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The rape allegation is why the federal judge is revoking the order for voluntary surrender. U.S. Marshals have been ordered to take custody of Dukes and send him to prison.
According to Warner Robins police, Dukes was last seen leaving his home in a 2013 White Kia Sorento featuring the license plate PFP1116. He wore a red shirt and blue jeans, cops said. Authorities claim Dukes made suicidal threats, is a “heavy” drinker, and has history of cocaine use.
