Cell phone footage shows a man just straight up climbing on a stranger’s vehicle and smashing the windshield with his bare fist. Now cops in Anaheim, California are looking for him.
The incident happened at about 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, police say in a news release provided to Law&Crime. A 34-year-old local woman was driving with her 49-year-old male friend, and her two kids, ages 12 and 13, in the vehicle. That’s when she noticed another person driving erratically and following her. This other vehicle, described as a white Jeep “Liberty or Cherokee” drove up in front of her, and made her stop. Then a large man stepped out, climbed the hood of the woman’s car, smashed her windshield barehanded, and then returned to his Jeep to drive away.
Cops describe him as balding white man, about 40 years old, with a full beard, and strawberry blonde hair. You can get a good look at him in the video above.
Officers didn’t name the female driver, but she spoke with KTLA. The outlet identified her as Veneranda Alvarez, but her face isn’t on camera because she voiced concern for her safety. She said that she had picked up her daughters and then met with her friend at a Jack in the Box restaurant. She said the assailant followed her friend (who was on foot) to the fast food parking lot from a nearby Walgreens.
“Then when [my friend Chris] came near my passenger side, he had told the guy, ‘Stop harassing me, stop following us,'” Alvarez said.
They tried to drive away, but the man followed them, leading to the incident caught on camera. Alvarez said no one was injured, but her daughters missed school on Wednesday.
She said the man followed her friend for an unknown reason. According to cops, she said that this attack was unprovoked.
Anaheim police Sgt. Jeff Mundy told Law&Crime that, as of this moment, the case is being treated as felony vandalism.
