‘Bachelor’ Chris Soules Hearing for Leaving Scene of Fatal Accident

Reality TV figure Chris Soules is scheduled for a trial in January, but his legal team is trying to stop that. A court hearing is set to begin Monday at 10 a.m. EST in Buchanan County, Iowa.

The Iowa State Police said that Soules rear-ended a tractor with his truck, resulted in the death of 66-year-old Kenneth Moser. The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office said they ended up arresting Soules at his home for leaving the scene of the accident.

Attorneys for Soules, who headlined the 19th season of The Bachelor, claim he did everything the law required him to do. Their client performed CPR on Moser until it clearly became useless to do so, they said in a motion to dismiss the charge of leaving the scene of a deadly crash. 911 audio shows Soules reporting the accident to authorities. Prosecutors filed their own rebuttal motion on Tuesday. They argue that the defendant should’ve physically stayed at the scene.

If convicted, Soules faces up to 5 years in prison, and a $7,500 fine.
