Friends of O.J. Simpson spoke to ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Friday, discussing The Juice’s plans for when he gets out of prison later this year. Simpson was granted parole on Thursday after serving nine years for armed robbery while trying to retrieve sports memorabilia from a Las Vegas hotel.
Tom Scotto said that Simpson first plans to go to Florida, and from there he wants to visit his sister in California and take a road trip, including paying respects to those who have died. “He wants to visit his daughter’s grave, he wants to visit Nicole’s grave.” Aaren Simpson, Simpson’s youngest child with his first wife Marguerite Whitley, drowned as a child in 1979. Nicole, of course, is Nicole Brown Simpson, Simpson’s ex-wife. Simpson was found liable for her death, and the death of her friend Ronald Goldman at a civil trial in 1997, after being acquitted of their murders at a criminal trial.
Another friend of O.J., Dr. Henry Johnson, said that he and others are still upset about the 1997 case. “O.J. still believes in his innocence, as well as he’s got plenty of followers, including me hat believe that he was unjustly found guilty of liability of Ron Goldman’s death and Nicole’s death.”
Johnson also said that he visited Simpson in prison a number of times, and was struck by how serene he was while there. “I know he’s grown,” Johnson said about O.J. in his time there.
