A shocking video out of Houston made headlines days ago because it showed a brazen robbery attempt in which the victim held onto a purse containing $75,000 for dear life, despite being run over by a car.
Texas authorities say that the robbery was able to occur in the first place because a bank employee tipped off her boyfriend to the fact that a woman had just withdrawn the large sum of cash.
Shelby Wyse was arrested on Tuesday for her alleged connection to the violent robbery attempt, Click2Houston reported.
Wyse, an employee at the bank where the money was withdrawn, allegedly rented the car used in the attack and claimed it was stolen, though she never reported it as such. Even worse for Wyse, prosecutors say she appeared on surveillance footage sending a text after the victim withdrew the cash.
Authorities suspect that this was a “go signal” to Wyse’s boyfriend Travonn Johnson and alleged accomplice Davis Mitchell.
As Law&Crime reported before, the victim was attacked at a gas station in Houston and she held on to the money despite overwhelming odds.
Surveillance video showed one suspect grab the bag, failing to take it from her hands. The woman’s husband, with whom she owns a local check cashing store, then exited the gas station’s store and tried to fight the man off, but he was attacked in the process.
An assailant dragged her along the ground, but she never gave up.
Wyse faces an aggravated robbery charge.
