The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is currently on the lookout for a large man who is believed to have punched two women Saturday night while at a hot dog stand in downtown Los Angeles. Video of the alleged attack is currently on the way toward going viral.
According to local Fox affiliate KTTV, the two female victims say they overheard a man arguing with a hot dog vendor over the cost of a hot dog. The hot dog was reportedly $6 and the man apparently didn’t want to pay that much.
The women said that another hot dog vendor joined the fray by attempting to offer the allegedly disgruntled consumer a free hot dog–but that didn’t seem to help things at all. The man was apparently still angry and still continued to “harass” the vendor who was charging $6 per dog, according to the outlet.
In a secondary effort to diffuse the frank-centric tension, the women said they then stepped in and that a multi-party argument followed. That argument quickly led to violence.
Cell phone footage originally posted to Facebook by one of the women’s relatives–but since removed or hidden–shows what appears to be the man in question repeatedly punching two women in the face.
The man has a beard and a close-cropped haircut. He appears to have maintained a southpaw boxing stance throughout the incident–bobbing and weaving while throwing a right-handed punch three times in a row; then he throws a left cross followed by another right before jogging away.
KTTV made note of the original post’s caption.
“Two girls are now lying on the ground, who both ended up in ER, and NOBODY even tried to help them up or ask if they were ok!,” the father of one of the women wrote on Facebook. “Instead, the people standing around laughed and cheered as if the sight of two small girls getting beat on by a huge, 250 lb man was a sight of entertainment!”
The original footage also featured graphic language.
A sound-free version of the video was shared by the LAPD on Tuesday afternoon.
“Someone knows him,” the tweet noted, “and we [sic] would like to be one of those people.”
