Authorities say there was a shooting Thursday morning at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, California. This situation was in flux, and law enforcement have not released many details, citing the ongoing investigation. Nonetheless, here’s what we know so far.
Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department describe the suspect as a 16-year-old boy. Today was his birthday, they said. The suspect took a gun from his backpack, shot five students, and then himself, they claim.
Investigators said they recovered a .45. caliber gun from the scene. Authorities announced they were executing a search warrant on the suspect’s home. They were also investigating the high school, and two hospitals. No other threats or suspects were reported as of Thursday afternoon.
Two victims were reported dead: a 16-year-old girl, and 14-year-old boy. The suspect is alive despite his wounds.
