In a major win for Brendan Dasssey, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals agreed to uphold a lower court ruling that overturned Dassey’s conviction after finding that his confession was involuntary. The State of Wisconsin has 90 days to decide if they want to retry him in the 2005 death of photographer Teresa Halbach. They can also appeal the full 7th Circuit panel or to the U.S. Supreme Court.
LawNewz Anchor Aaron Keller hosted a special segment to analyze and break down what the ruling means. Watch the LawNewz Network above to hear from experts, and some of the attorneys involved including Jerry Buting, who served as Steven Avery’s attorney.
