The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office says the escape happened around 5 a.m. Tuesday, on a prison transport bus traveling from Baldwin County Jail with 33 inmates. Dubose and Rowe allegedly overpowered two correctional officers, Curtis Billue and Christopher Monica. Billue and Monica were then shot and killed. Dubose and Rowe are said to have made off with the officers’ handguns, and carjacked a green Honda Civic with the Georgia tag RBJ6601, the state’s Department of Corrections told WSB-TV.
The manhunt is ongoing, and Putnam Sheriff Howard Sills told the outlet they are not sure where the escapees have gone. Dubose is described as a white man standing 6’1″, weighing 140 pounds. Rowe is also white, stands 6’1″ too, and weighs 181 pounds.
