Is There a Legal Case for Impeaching President Trump? Watch Debate

People have been talking a lot about impeaching President Donald Trump. There are even betting odds on whether it will happen. But regardless of whether some people think it might happen or if people want it to happen, is there—based on what we know now—a valid legal reason to impeach the president today? This will be the subject of a live debate in a LawNewz Network special airing Wednesday at noon, moderated by LawNewz founder Dan Abrams. The proposition:

Based on what is publicly known from news reports and statements, there is NO legal basis to impeach Donald Trump today. Agree or disagree?

You can watch in the above play when it begins.

Arguing on the pro-impeachment side will be Fordham University Law Professor Jed Shugerman. Shugerman has a BA, JD, and PhD in History from Yale University. He teaches Administrative Law and Torts, and he was previously an associate professor at Harvard Law School, where he taught Torts, Law and Democracy, and a Legal History workshop. Shugerman is also the author of the 2012 book, The People’s Courts: Pursuing Judicial Independence in America, which has been cited by the U.S. Supreme Court, and he was a co-author of historians’ amicus brief in the CREW v. Trump emoluments case. He is also the author of Shugerblog.com.

Opposing him will be attorney Ross Garber, partner at the law firm Shipman & Goodwin. Garber is the co-chair of the firm’s Government Investigations and White Collar Crime Group, and he represented Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, and Connecticut Gov. John Rowland in each of their impeachment proceedings. He has a BA and JD from University of Connecticut.

With legal heavyweights like these, this is a battle you don’t want to miss. Catch it live on the LawNewz Network at noon.
