The murder trial of Georgia attorney Claud ‘Tex’ McIver draws near its conclusion. McIver is facing allegations that he intentionally killed his wife Diane McIver on Sept. 25, 2016. Tex McIver admitted that he shot Diane, but insists it was an accident.
McIver claims that on the day his wife died, they were riding in a car while a friend was driving. They were in a supposedly suspicious neighborhood, so Tex asked Diane to pass him his gun. He was seated in the back seat with Diane in the front passenger seat. The defense claims that at some point, Tex fell asleep, then awoke with a start and fired the weapon by accident, shooting Diane through the back of her seat. According to testimony during the trial, Diane said before she died that it was an accident.
The defense rested their case on Friday. On Monday, the prosecution plans on calling three rebuttal witnesses, with closing arguments expected to take place on Tuesday.
