Watch: Bond Hearing for Sherra Wright, Accused of Killing NBA Star Lorenzen Wright

Sherra Wright is currently in jail after being arrested last year for allegedly murdering her ex-husband, former NBA star Lorenzen Wright, in 2010. Her attorneys will argue at a bond hearing in Shelby County, Tennessee on Wednesday that she should be allowed to go free as her case moves forward. Witnesses are expected to appear on Sherra’s behalf to testify regarding her character. As part of her defense’s argument, they will try to convince the judge that she is not a flight risk and will not try to flee.

Lorenzen Wright was a former forward and center who played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings, and Cleveland Cavaliers during a career that spanned from 1996 until 2009. He disappeared in July 2010 and was found dead days later with multiple gunshot wounds.

Sherra Wright was arrested in California in Decemeber 2017, and has been in jail ever since. She is charged with first-degree murder but will not face the death penalty. She was also charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, and attempted first-degree murder for a separate, previous alleged plot to kill her ex-husband.

Billy Ray Turner, a landscaper who went to Sherra Wright’s church, is also charged with murder in the case. According to an affidavit, the pair were involved in a relationship at the time of Lorenzen Wright’s death, and had been heard discussing potential plots to kill the basketball player. Turner will not face the death penalty either.

Earlier this month, Turner had his own hearing, where a judge set bond at $15 million.
