Law enforcement got involved back in January 2018. The Riverside County Sheriff’s office said a “slightly emaciated” 17-year-old girl escaped from their home, and called 911. She claimed that her parents held her and her 12 siblings hostage. Some victims were chained. The 17-year-old complainant looked like she was 10 years old.
Deputies and cops found out that yes, the kids were locked up. Some victims were chained to beds in “dark and foul-smelling surrounding.” The children at the time ranged in age from 2 to 29.
Newly revealed 911 audio showed the 17-year-old making that pivotal phone call.
“I’ve never been out,” she said. “I don’t go out much so I don’t know anything about the streets or anything.”
She said two sisters and one brother were chained to their beds.

She said the house was so dirty she sometimes had trouble breathing, that she hadn’t had a bath in over a year, that she didn’t know what medication was, and that her mother lied about the children being homeschooled.
